Transportation

Respectful transportation of the deceased to the masjid and cemetery, utilizing well-maintained, elegant vehicles to provide a dignified final journey, reflecting the honor and care every soul deserves.


Ghusl (Ritual Washing) and Kafan (Shrouding)

The sacred process of ghusl is performed with the utmost care and respect, following the Sunnah. Both Ghusl and shrouding may be carried out by volunteers or family members.

Janazah (Funeral Prayer) and Burial Arrangement

Janazah prayers can be arranged at any masjid of the family’s choice.  Families also have the option to choose a cemetery that aligns with their preferences and values.

What to Do When There Is a Death

Step 1: Call Al Firdous Funeral Services

Immediately contact Al Firdous Funeral Services at 1 (866) 347-9262. Be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Full name of the deceased (please spell out)
  • Gender of the deceased

  • Location of the body

Step 2: Initial Intake by Al Firdous Staff

The staff member who receives your call will collect:

  1. The deceased’s full name, gender, date of death, and current location

  2. Contact information (phone number and address) of the responsible (Next of Kin) person

The responsible person will then meet with the Funeral Manager to:

  • Sign the funeral service agreement

  • Confirm the time and location for the Salat al-Janazah (funeral prayer)

  • Decide on the burial location

Step 3: Scheduling the Funeral Prayer

The Funeral Manager will coordinate with the Imam of the family’s preferred masjid to schedule Salat al-Janazah.


At Masjid Yusuf (ICR), Janazah prayers are usually held after Dhuhr prayer, or after the second Jummah prayer on Fridays

The masjid administration will notify the community through email and WhatsApp.

Step 4: Arranging Burial

The Funeral Manager will contact the cemetery selected by the family. In Richmond, two local Muslim cemeteries are available:

  • Albarzakh Cemetery located at 31058 Sadie Lane, Doswell, VA 23407


  • Crescent Memorial Graveyard (ICVA) located at 3411 Beechwood Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834

At Al Firdous Funeral Services, we believe that every Muslim deserves a dignified burial, regardless of financial circumstances. The Sadaqa Burial Fund was established to ensure that no family is burdened by financial hardship in their time of grief.
